I’m Rich Biatch!
Forbes magazine released its list of top earning entertainers and the hero of Harlem, Sean “P.Diddy” Combs is the top dog. Puff tops the list of highest earning musicians of 2017.
- Sean Combs 130 million
- Beyoncé 105 million
- Drake 94 million
- The Weekend 92 million
- Coldplay 88 million
Puff also takes the lead on the list of highest earning celebrities in general. Beyoncé, J.K. Rowling, Drake, and Christiano Reynaldo round out the top 5.
Speak It Into Existence
I’m a woman of a certain age, so I came up listening to hip-hop in it’s “golden age”. Back then you could turn on the radio and hear the likes of Nas, DMX, Jay-Z, B.I.G., Outkast, Lauryn, and Snoop played back to back, and everybody was dope! I’m old enough to remember when Puff was rapping, and ad libbing on tracks. I mention this because some have criticized his placement on the list of top musicians, because they consider him to be more of a business man than a musician.
I remember when Puff was known more for his music than for his mastery of business. And back then, he was quick to let us know he was on a mission to make money and that he was paid in full. It’s almost like he spoke it into existence. Take a look at 10 time Puff told us he was on his way to the Forbes list.

10. Victory -1998 (Featuring Notorious B.I.G. and Busta Rhymes)
“Better now than never/ Business before pleasure/ P. Diddy and the fam/ Who you know do it better?”
Puff been telling us he was about business.
9. All About The Benjamins- 1997 (Featuring The Lox, Lil Kim, and Notorious B.I.G.)
“Don’t knock me/for trying to bury/ Seven zeros /over in Rio De Janeiri.”
In addition to being the jam that will still set it off, Benjamins was an aspirational declaration of Puff’s dedication to the paper chase.
8. Money Ain’t A Problem 2015 (Featuring French Montana)
“Money over everything/ That’s just how it is/ Champagne everything/ Caviar tears”
I’m not sure what caviar tears are…but they sound expensive.
7. Mo Money Mo Problems -1997 (Notorious B.I.G. featuring Sean Combs and Ma$e)
“Now what you gonna do/ With a crew that got money much longer than yours/ And a team much stronger than yours.”
Long money is strong money.
6. It’s All About That Money- 1999 (Too Short Featuring Puff Daddy)
“Breaking necks/ Cashing checks/ When I’m not making money/ I’m having sex.”
Well alrighty then. #TMI
5. Been Around The World-1997 (Featuring Ma$e and Notorious B.I.G.)
“I was in a one bedroom/ Dreaming of a million/ Now I’m in beach houses/ Cream to the ceiling.”
It was all a dream…but If you believe it, you can achieve it!
4. Bad Boy For Life (Featuring Black Rob and Mark Curry)
“Don’t worry if I write rhymes/ I write checks!”
Clapback season…for anybody concerned about whether Diddy is a real musician. He’s basically saying, “You can have several seats…in the nosebleeds.”
3. Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down-1997 (Featuring Ma$e)
“Young black and famous/ Wit money hanging out the anus.”
Now that’s a lot of money.
2. Let’s Get It-2001 (G-Dep Featuring Black Rob Puff Daddy)
“I’m the Bad Boy Flavor/ Light Blue Gators/ NOT GUILTY/ and I’m FILTHY!”
This one would really get under the skin of those MAGA types today. Puff is spiking the ball and Harlem shaking in the end zone. He’s a Black man who beat the charges AND he’s filthy rich. At this point the DJ can play Hate Me Now…cuz they mad.
1. Been Around the World- 1997 (Featuring Ma$e and Notorious B.I.G.)
“Ni**a Please…I’m the macaroni with the cheese!”
Do you know how my people feel about macaroni and cheese? If you do, then you understand the seriousness of this metaphor. Your fave might be the amuse-bouche of the list, but Diddy is no appetizer. He’s the main dish. Drops Mic…Party Done.
