With a Georgia snow storm the night before, winter weather and freezing temperatures were in full effect. Most probably spent their days curled up with movies and warm beverages but nothing was going to stop the Annual Trumpet Awards. Celebrities, socialites, and honored officials braved the icy winds and dropping temperature to take the red carpet and Kontrol Mag was there to capture every moment and every style.
Most attendees saw this as a prime opportunity to pull out their fancy furs that can usually be a little too much for Georgia winter but on the rare days like today, they were the perfect accessories. For the red carpet though, no temperature was too cold to show off the fabulous style and ensembles underneath…
We all know that black will never go out of style and apparently these ladies know that too. Each of them took the classic color to a new level of effortless glam and added their own flair to their looks. (From l to r.) Kelly Price stunned in an all black cape dress accessorized perfectly with statement stud earrings, brooch, and sparkling clutch. MC Lyte kept it simple and sexy in a velvet embellished mini dress. Singer Vina Mills showed some leg in a Calapo by Carey dress topped off with a vintage Chanel cropped fur, while Jasmine Burke gave her some leg competition with a teasing thigh high split. Stylist Tenisha Symone also took the carpet showing off classic glam style of her own.
Some decided to take it up a notch and dazzled in gold. Newly engaged Demetria McKinney wore a custom Vintage Hazel gown that flowed flawlessly. Singer Vivian Green stepped out in a gorgeous mermaid style Luv Lillie gown and celebrity hair guru Gocha made a statement in a glittering gathered halter.
Cast members of the new series Preachers of Atlanta that attended the show included Pastors Judah Swilley, Canton Jones, and Corey Hambrick.
Some performers for the event who graced the red carpet before they took the stage included the legendary Salt N Pepa, and R&B favorites Raheem DeVaughn and Joe.
Other attendees included VH1 Love and Hip Hop’s Joseline Hernandez, Empire’s Bryshere ‘Yaz’ Gray, Christian Keyes, Jasmine Burke, & Clifton Powell, Tweet, TC Carson, comedian George Wallace, Tye White, Brad James.
Last but not least, we cant forget the honorees. Founded by Xernona Clayton (bottom right), the prime focus of the Trumpet Awards is to focus on the black men and women that are more than the valuable resources to not only our country, but to our world. In some way shape or form, each of them have shared and achieved various accomplishments to continue to stimulate our culture and society.
