Last night, the 2022 Billboard Awards took place marking another historic night of music and fashion. Being transparent, this year’s red-carpet was among the most hum-drum I’ve seen in some time. The Billboard Awards red-carpet is more relaxed than other shows, and because of this I hoped to see a little more creativity with the looks. It wasn’t the all-black theme suggested at this year’s show, but the underwhelming interpretations of this that left me scratching my head. Clad is one of the easiest looks to pull off, so this should have been an easy assignment. Despite my disappointment with the Billboard Awards red-carpet, there were a few celebrities with noteworthy looks.
Doja Cat was best dressed at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards. She wore a dramatic Elsa Schiaparelli design with earrings.
Megan Fox, Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) and Mary J. Blige also wore favorable looks at the Billboard red-carpet show. Megan and MGK both looked amazing in edgy black attire. MGK wore a dark blazer with silver spikes and Megan a gown with embellished arm-length gloves. Celebrities from the Weekend to Doja Cat could be seen in all-black. Some red-carpet looks were noticeably more favorable than others. Kylie Jenner, a typical red-carpet A-lister killed the red-carpet in a figure-hugging graphic gown and gold bangles.
Music legend, Mary J Blige received the Icon Award at this year’s Billboard Awards show. Mary’s dress put me in the mind of a certain alien villain that fights a certain web-slinging crime-fighter. I don’t mind that Mary opted for something that dramatic, it’s the delivery that’s got me on the fence with her look. previous Billboard Icon Award recipient and pop-legend Janet Jackson presented Mary with the award.
