Briana Wilson is the key designer and founder of Matte Brand. The 25 year old, African American woman is breaking societal norms. Releasing supporting brand ‘Working Girls’, Briana has no intentions of slowing up. Raised in the South, Briana dropped out of college near completion. After moving to New York City, Briana began picking up design and marketing education and information. She fell in love with the idea of entrepreneurship in fashion. This leads to Matte Brand being born.

She evolved herself into a Minimalist Designer, Marketing Maven and Fashion Industry Professional.
Self education and an entrepreneurial spirit are what sparked her own businesses. Briana grew passionate about the craft, therefore, carving a place for herself within the fashion industry. Fashion design became Briana’s generation of revenue. As a result, her following can’t seem to get enough of her. Briana pushes other women to want to start their own businesses and put in work.

2. Matte designs are inspired by Vintage Fashion and a Leisure Lifestyle.

Reviewing vintage fashion shows, the runway inspires Briana. With idealism from the 90s, she creates small capsule collections within her brand. Focused on leisure, fitness and lifestyle, most noteworthy, Matte is wearable for all women. Her angle is to produce pieces that she would wear daily. Briana constructs a lane for women to be sensual and comfortable. Maximizing comfort in each garment, Matte also uses fabrics such as Pima cotton knit, varieties of spandex and rayon.

3. Matte uses realistic Brown girls to model for its visual branding.

Without agencies, Briana sources realistic models from Instgram. She spends a significant amount of time on social media due to Instagram being her strongest marketing tool. Briana stops notions that only ‘professional’ models should be used. Briana handpicks beautiful women with variations in ethnicity. This brings light to the Brown Girls and realistic body types. Therefore, any woman can rock Matte Brand and feel beautiful while doing it.

Matte Brand serves the ‘Not So Basic’ closet essentials, and these are pieces every woman needs to own. It stands for an idealism that we all must pay attention to. The brand is ran by one woman, which says a lot. The fact that Briana stepped out to pursue a dream is one thing. Flipping it into a money-generating success is inspiring. Not bad for a Black girl from Arkansas. She gets the job DONE! Matte Brand is here to stay.
