Young tennis legend, Serena Williams is killing them softly in a new spread for Vanity Fair.
Remember back in April, the 35 year old super athlete accidentally announced that she and fiance/Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian were expecting.
The announcement came via Serena’s Snapchat account. In the image, mommy-to-be is posing for a sideways selfie. She is wearing a yellow, one piece swimsuit with a very pronounced baby bump on display. The caption of the photo read
“20 weeks”.
Soon after, Serena explained in an interview that her intentions had been to simply save the photo. Williams detailed her shock upon realizing that a quick slip of the finger had actually sent the Snap out to the whole wide world instead.
And that’s not the only slip up related to the news. Earlier this month, reports swirled about, claiming that Serena’s sister, Venus, had “accidentally” revealed the baby’s gender. When asked in an interview what she would like the baby to call her, Venus referred to the baby as “she”.
Since the cat’s been out of the bag, Williams has been pretty consistent with sharing photos of herself. On her Instagram page, she appears to be living it up and enjoying her pregnancy. Each glimpse of her pregnant body slays. But that is an understatement in regards to this Vanity Fair shoot.
The photos were taken by legendary photographer, Annie Leibovitz. Serena is, of course, gracing the cover. Obviously there are gorgeous shots of Serena glowing through an earthy palette. But there are also beautiful topless photos of her, exuding what looks like generational strength. The kind that is genetic. When you just know you got it from your mama, that kind of strength. Accompanying those images are artful black and white shots of Serena, joined by her fiance. The photos are absolutely stunning. As is always the case when Serena and Annie team up. Tens across the board.
