A Spike Lee Joint – Did Spike Get it Right with ‘Oldboy?’ [VIDEO]

Usually, most folks believe it takes a certain kind of eclectic person to really get into a Spike Lee film due to his often controversial subject matter but after seeing this official trailer, it’s looking like he might have hit the bullseye this time! It might me a remake but the story line is outrageous and looking as though it is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats!

It’s another Spike Lee Joint. The latest trailer from the celebrated director has officially been unveiled today and sees Lee remaking a 2003-Korean film, OLDBOY. Originally directed by South Korean filmmaker, Park Chan-wook, OLDBOY tells the story of Joe Doucette (played by Josh Brolin) who is detained for 20-years in a hotel-style prison by an unknown adversary. Doucette goes on to find out via a single television in his cell that he is suspected of murdering his wife and effectively ruining the relationship between himself and his only daughter. While certain changes to the original film’s plot have already been supposedly pointed out by certain critics, initial feedback thus far points at an otherwise well-executed remake of the original film by Spike Lee that possesses the same shock value and plot twists as the original.

What are your thoughts? Will you be at the box office to see ‘Oldboy?’
