The upcoming Aaliyah biopic, starring Zendaya Coleman, will get into a topic fans have been inquiring about for years: the relationship between the singer and the man who discovered her, R. Kelly.
The movie, based on a biography written by Christopher John Farley, will go into detail about what happened between the two according to a report by The New York Post.
As you all know, R. Kelly discovered Aaliyah in the early ’90s and produce her debut album, Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number. Allegedly in 1994 the two married when Aaliyah was 15 and R. Kelly was 27. Afterwards they severed business and personal ties and Aaliyah left Jive Records and went on to work with Missy Elliot and Timberland and inked a deal with Atlantic Records.
