Alvester Martin is a man of many talents and he recently sat down with us to discuss his music and dancing career. In the mist off all that he took a day out to shoot a steamy yet tasteful photo shoot for our winter glam issue out on stands now. Take a look at the hot pics and some of what Alvester had to say below.
Hailing from Dade County, FL, Alvester Martin decided to take his classically trained ballet and contemporary dance talents to Hollywood and move to L.A. to pursue his dreams of making it big time. Because his background is in dancing, one would think that he would be moving to L.A. to pursue dancing full time or maybe even acting. Afterall, that is why everyone moves to L.A., right? Not Martin, he’s multi-talented. He can dance, act, model, and of course sing. With all those talents and abilities, he wanted to take his talents center stage and pursue his dreams of singing. From the looks of it, he might just do it. He has conquered the dancing world and has become one of the most sought after dancers in the business. Now he is looking to conquer the stage with his vocal talents.
With his dancing talents, it came of no surprise that after moving to L.A. to pursue his singing career, he went on an audition to be a background dancer for Beyonce. He heard about the audition from a friend and decided to go for it since dancing is what he does. Not surprisingly, he got the job to work with Beyonce on tour. This subsequently led him to being sought after to be a background dancer for Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Tamar Braxton and Rihanna to mention a few. Although he loves dancing and is exceptionally good at it, his true love is singing and that is why he went to L.A. in the first place, not necessarily to pursue his dancing career. Receiving opportunities to perform, albeit it as a background dancer to some of the hottest singers in the game, was a double-edged sword for Alvester and left him frustrated at times. “I was frustrated, honestly, and went through moments of insecurity, asking myself is this as far as I’m gonna go? Am I not good enough? All and all now, I am thankful for those experiences. I had those experiences starting when I was younger, 17 or 18 and now that I am older, I realize that if it were not for those experiences I wouldn’t be where I am today. I wasn’t ready at that time. These things about the business, can only be taught through experience, nobody can sit you down and teach you that.”
