Thousands of fans flocked to Facebook after hearing the news that Joanne Borgella, 32, had passed away after a year of battling a rare case of Endometrial cancer.
We first met the former American Idol contestant when she wowed judges with her beautiful rendition of Celine Dion’s “I Love You,” making it to the top 24 on the show’s seventh season in 2008. As a plus-sized model for Wilhemena Models, she was said to be strong and confident.
Her family broke the news on her Facebook page this past Saturday, and encouraged people to take the time to educate themselves on Endometrial cancer and support research efforts.
