This Friday the 25 year old JayAre, from the rap group Cali Swag District passed away– making it the second group member that has died from the group.
The ‘Teach Me How the Dougie’ suffered from sickle cell anemia and was hospitalize on Thursday June 5, according to MTV News. After being admitted into the hospital JayAre went into cardiac arrest and passed away.
Cali Swag District Member Corey “Smooth Da General” Fowler tweeted that “sickle cell took my brother away from me today…with that being said I’m proud to know that with that disease he made the best of his life.”
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first group member to pass away from this group. M-Bone was killed in a drive-by shooting back in 2011.
The group became popular after their smash hit, “Teach Me How to Dougie,” that was released in 2010. Since then, the group members released a mixed tape early this year called “The District.” The tape include collabs from rappers like Waka Flocka, Problem, and Ty Dolla $ign.
Our condolences go out to his family and friends. It is sad to see young ones go so soon.
