Time is money, and Dr. Dre does not miss a beat. The LA Times reports that Dre has officially purchased New England Patriot’s quarterback, Tom Brady and his supermodel wife Gisele Bunchen’s $40 million mansion in Brentwood, Los Angeles.
The estate was originally listed for $50 million but Dre knocked off $10 million for the four-acre property. The French chateau is surrounded by gardens, a cobblestone motor court and a koi fish filled moat. The 18, 298-square-foot mansion includes five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a library/study, a gym, a sauna, and seven fireplaces.
Dre clearly moves fast as this is the rapper’s first big purchase since he sold his headphone empire, Beats Electronics, to Apple for $2.6 billion in May. The rest of the deal included $400 million in stock options as well as seats at Apple’s executive table for Dre and his business partner Jimmy Lovine. The headphone company has been thriving since it was founded in 2008. The popular ‘Beats by Dre’ headphones and speakers have sky rocketed across all markets. Selling his headphone company made Dre the first rapper to become a billionaire where he can now spend cash on lavish mansions and moats.
As for the Brady Brunch, they’re moving right along with no worries in sight. The power couple is said to be looking for an apartment that’s on the market in New York City. It will more than likely be some million dollar duplex in Tribeca. The move is ideal for Tom’s travel to New England for the football season and perfect for Gisele’s bookings.
I don’t know if I’m sold on trading in my koi fish and moat for the big city and cramped crowds but when you’re soaking in money it doesn’t even matter. Two words – private jet.
