In the ever-changing landscape that is the fashion industry it seems as though trends, styles and designers come and go. However once in awhile you get a nice refreshing zephyr of talent that flips the fashion industry upside down and on its head.
This is where Jérôme LaMaar comes in. He is a Bronx born and raised designer who has been in the business since he was 15 years old. He got his first taste of the fashion industry as designer under the guidance of Kimora Lee Simmons’ clothing brand Baby Phat.
Baby Phat was just the beginning; he went on to FIT where he earned a degree in Fashion Design and Fabric Styling. He later apprenticed for Ralph Rucci and spent time as a trend forecaster for prestigious trend casting firm, Promostyl.
Jérôme is definitely a younger designer to be on the watch for. His collection is called 5:31 Jérôme whose name, “is in honor of the valuable and powerful element of time and his May 31st birthday”
While the designs speak for themselves, it doesn’t hurt that Beyoncé has been seen wearing his garments. Earlier in the year Beyoncé, was photographed in a 5:31 Jérôme embellished plum coat for the cover of Grazia. Just recently she stunned in an all-yellow custom 5:31 Jérôme dress.
