Beyonce’s True Story Behind Why “Pretty Hurts”

As many of us know not all artist write and sing their own music; not too surprising, but Beyoncé didn’t pen the motivational song “Pretty Hurts” herself. Get this, the song wasn’t even originally written for her either. Industry songwriter Sia Furler is speaking out candidly for the first time. If you’re not familiar with the writer you may be more familiar with the singers she’s written for like: Rihanna, Katy Perry, Beyoncé, or how about a chick named Christina Aguilera. Yup, she’s had her hand in creating history for a moment now. Once the track was completed and demoed Sia says she sent it over to Perry’s camp and only heard crickets. Following Perry it was then forwarded to Rihanna’s team, but again nothing happened. Who has time for that?

Then of course YONCE wasn’t about to pass up a song that was “music to her ears”. Sia states that once Perry heard the completed track she was all over her like white on rice.

Sia said the Roar singer texted her:

“I’m pretty hurt you never sent me this song.”

To which Sia responded:

“Check your email.”

Sounds like some spicy drama amongst the divas. Its always important to take the opportunity once its handed to you. Luckily, for Queen Bey it was simply another hit under her belt.
