Today marks a historic one in Celebrity Crush history, we are introducing our first fictional crush; someone who in her reality has enough power to change the world–or destroy it.
She is known by many names and aliases; Diana Prince, Princess Diana of Themyscira, The Goddess of Truth, but we all know her as Wonder Woman!
With a new movie coming out this week we had to make the most famous female superhero on the planet our Crush!
For over seventy-six years The Amazon Princess has served as an emissary to and protector of Patriarch’s Word (The real world). In these dual roles she has faced everything and everyone from Nazis and The Viet Cong to cosmic entities and god themselves. Wonder Woman may not be the only female superhero, but she is the first successful female hero outright in comic book history. Whereas many women in comics were initially love interests or supporting characters, The Amazon Princess has been kicking ass from the jump!
Wonder Woman’s origins are even unique. She was originally formed from clay and brought to life by Olympian goddesses and Hermes, each of them blessing her with a different power; Superhuman Strength (second only to Superman), super speed, longevity (she is virtually ageless), flight, superhuman reflexes, animal empathy (she can speak to understand animals), superhuman agility and stamina, and a healing factor. In addition, she is a superior hand to hand combatant. The origins of her powers have since been retconned and she is now a demigoddess (the female offspring of a mortal and a god), the daughter of Queen Hippolyta of the Amazons and Zeus.
The only thing more exciting than Wonder Woman trivia is the new hit film based off the heroine! It tool long enough for a film based on her to arrive and it more than meets the hype surrounding it. In fact it is thus far the highest rated superhero film to date with a 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes! We were able to attend the screening for the film last night and are already ready to see it a second and third time!
Wonder Woman is so much more than just a superhero though, she is a feminist icon, LGBT symbol, and an inspiration to women (and many men) worldwide! Be sure you catch the Wonder Woman film in a theater near you nationwide this Friday!
