Music icon Celine Dion has decided to hang up her mic until further notice. The “My Heart Will Go On” diva has chosen be a doting wife and nurse her ailing husband back to good health.
Celine’s camp has stated:
“Celine Dion has decided to postpone all of her show business activities indefinitely, in order to focus 100% of her attention on her husband Rene, their family, and associated health issues.”
Turns out her husband and manager Renee Angelil has been out of commission since his surgery back in December 2013. The reason behind his procedure was to remove a cancerous tumor. Celine mentioned, “I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband’s healing, and to do so, it’s important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children,” Dion said via the press release. “I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support.”
This decision has caused the singing legend to cancel her fall tour in Asia and hold of on her Las Vegas Residency at the Caesar’s Palace. Being that her contract was renewed until 2019 this may place her in a bind. After having inflammation in her throat muscles she’s been unable to hit the stage since July 29. Dion is in a place where being with her family is vital to keep her sanity. Who knows if she will ever return to the mic again?
