On Wednesday night September 13, Jia Liu officially closed New York Fashion Week. As the last fashion show of the season that took place at Gallery II, Skylight Clarkson Square.
The cute kids or shall we say models were the highlight of the runway show. The line, Comme Tu Es by Jia Liu for Spring/Summer 2018, was themed by “Balloons, sunshine, clouds, and sandy beaches…” – experiences encountered that are worthy of family albums. Kiss Baby Journey was the inspiration found by the spontaneous moments of authenticity, friendship, affection and joy encountered while traveling with loved ones. Thus allowing this concept of parent-child fashion as a way for them to bond.
Up and coming Beijing native fashion designer, Jia Liu, explored the relationship between parents and children at NYFW. The Comme Tu Es by Jia Liu Spring Summer 2018 collection, Kiss Baby Journey, debuted a children’s wear line and fun streetwear for the entire family. Known for her fearless use of color and bold prints, the designs have a whimsical edge mixing sportswear with streetwear. Showcasing “The Emoji Movie”, the collection featured colorful prints, satin tailored suits, and bomber jackets. As well as sporty party dresses, in black and white with splashes of brighter hues. Pops of color and tongue-in-cheek accents combined with 3D animation offer fun clothing for the fashionable. The enjoyment and surprises within the collection are playful yet stylish, the core of designer Jia Liu’s collections.
Over the years the collection has been presented internationally in China and Paris and most recently New York. NYFW has become the leading platform for numerous Chinese fashion brands and designers, such as Vivienne Tam and Lan Yu, as well as emerging talents like Taoray Wang and Jia Liu.
