D’Angelo Drops “Black Messiah” Album!

Looks like Christmas came early this year, more specifically on Sunday. R&B and soul music Stans got a taste that they have been yearning for for years. Mr. “How Does It Feel” and Brown Sugar himself, D’Angelo dropped a new album and the internet went bananas!

D’Angelo delivered his extremely and frustratingly long-awaited album Black Messiah late sunday night. The album has weathered many setbacks over the years including D’Angelo’s battle with substance abuse. But weary fans, dry your eyes, the 14 year wait is over!

What we once thought was just a myth stemmed back from the year 2005, where message boards created the legend that would be the new album from D’Angelo. In 2012,  D’Angelo hit the road to broadcast his classics to fans all over in which we figured was the comeback season for the R&B artist. He promised us new music and he served good on his word.

The 12 track project includes D’Angelo’s smooth and soothing lyrics and wide ranges of bass lines and groovy guitar melodies. D’Angelo stated in an interview about the album:

“It’s about people rising up in Ferguson and in Egypt and in Occupy Wall Street and in every place where a community has had enough and decided to make change happen.”

It couldn’t have come at a better time with all of the chaos that has been going on surrounding police brutality. Everybody from John Mayer to QuestLove tweeted about the project and so far, as we expected, the album has received nothing but good reviews.

You can buy the album Black Messiah on iTunes now. And let us know how you feel about the new music from D’Angelo.
