From humble beginnings, the beauty was first discovered in London’s Hammersmith. By the legendary agency Storm Models at the young age of 15. Jourdan made a name for herself as one of Forbes’s top models and has been unstoppable ever since. Yet, she is still human and admits to having lots of body hang-ups growing up. She was bullied for standing out while growing up, stating “People pick up on your differences and want to tear you down”, Jourdan told Daily Mail. Insecure and paranoid that people were judging her, she found herself in isolation and insecure about her body.
Four years into her career, Jourdan became pregnant with her son Riley. Keeping her pregnancy a secret, she was able to model until she was six-months pregnant. And returned to the catwalk just 10 weeks following her son’s birth. Splitting her time between London and New York, her seven- year old lives at home with her mother. Her mother helps her with Riley while she’s across the globe to fulfill work.
Since her debut, Jourdan has appeared on countless covers and featured in campaigns such as Burberry, Balmain, Calvin Klein, Yves Saint Laurent, DKNY, John Galliano, and Tommy Hilfiger. A fashion model turned actress, Jordan has broken down a multitude of barriers in the modeling industry. In 2008, she became the first black model to walk the runway for Prada and voted the British Council’s “Model of the Year”. As well as one of the four cover models for Vogue Italia’s iconic Black Models issue, July 2008. In 2014, she was the first Black British model to make it to Forbes top-earning models list, and in 2015 she became the first individual black model to cover British Vogue. Before landing the #1 spot on the 100 Most Beautiful Faces list.
