Fashion Week Brooklyn, deemed the borough’s premiere bi-annual fashion event, provides a unique platform for up-and-coming local, national and international designers to showcase their work. It’s intimate, eccentric and welcoming, just like the New York neighborhood it represents.
This year’s FWB “Be Bold, Be Strong” fall/winter 2014 collection shows went down last week (March 13-16) at Industry City in Sunset Park. Designers included women’s fashion designer Marita Huurinainen (Finland), Doggy Couture designer Anthony Rubio, men’s designer Bradley Douglas Jordan, women’s designer AKOU and many more that featured chic and eco-friendly garments and accessories that were fittingly bold.
Fashion and beauty notable Dwight Eubanks was in attendance. As was FUBU Vice President J Alexander, who hosted Saturday night’s show where he encouraged the crowd to help keep creativity alive by supporting each other. A handful of attendees were thrown into the spotlight at an engaging Gotham Stages Shoot Brooklyn photo booth throughout the week, too.
Founded in 2006 by the BK Style Foundation (BSF), FWB not only supports fashion forward couturiers, but also supports charitable community organizations in doing so. This eighth annual show highlighted SpinGreen, Art in Motion and Soles4Souls.
The week’s event concluded with a performance by American Idol contestant Travis Orlando. Check out some pictures from Fashion Week Brooklyn (Fall/Winter 2014) below:
