Fifth Harmony No More: Camila Cabella’s Departure!

This morning harmonizers were shocked to hear that Camila Cabella 1/5 of the group Fifth Harmony has left.

In a statement on the groups Twitter account, the remaining four members of the group which consists of Ally, Normani, Dinah and Lauren stated, (abbreviated) “After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony. We wish her well.”

Just hours ago Camila made a statement of her own posted on her Instagram account which read as an open letter to her fans. In abbreviation, Camila say’s:

“I was shocked to read the statement the Fifth Harmony account posted without my knowing. The girls were aware of my feelings through the long, much needed conversations about the future that we had during tour.

Saying that they were just informed through my representatives that I was [leaving the group] is is simply not true Just like the other girls said in their statement about their plans I also planned to continue with my own solo endeavors in the New Year but I did not intend to end things with Fifth Harmony this way. As sad as it is to see this chapter ending this way I will continue to root them all on as individuals and as a group, I wish nothing but the best for them, all the success in the world and true happiness”.

Hmmm, so why was Camila released unknowingly? why would the girls back-stab her like this? why would they concoct this story that she did not tell them when it really was the other way around? Apparently, she never intended to leave the group so there would be a retraction in the statement and the group can maintain as such with all members present. Wouldn’t all members be within a contract that binds them to a group? How can this happen?…

Well I have some answers, allegedly there was built up tension with Camila and the other members for some time now. Camila’s contract ended Sunday December, 18th and on the same day Camila was blindsided by the news. It’s clear that Camila was in fact KICKED OUT! of the group with no warning. The group also stated they will continue as a foursome (even though the name won’t match) and also pursue their solo careers.

Be as it may–a shock to all, don’t feel too bad for Camila as she’s already creating a buzz for herself with her first solo release with Machine Gun Kelly. Their song “Bad Things” is climbing the Billboard charts. Last week it was at #17 and this week it takes the #10 spot.

This is just another example that singing groups don’t last–directly or indirectly. In a musical group everyone wants their time to shine; personalities clash, and over time the newness and excitement of being signed fades. Overtime a couple of members think they can be a breakout star then comes the realization of being solo and not having to divide their earnings which makes pursing a solo endeavor that more appealing.
