So many times I encounter young ladies who long for a Valentine. Just for the opportunity to be able post a picture to social networks of what gifts you were showered with for the day and the date with a guy that you may or may not be actually feeling. My father always taught me that I should love myself enough that another guy does not think that all he does is what validates me. Now I am not saying that you should be Miss Independent and not have a Valentine or appreciate the gifts from your significant other, just make sure you are not putting too much emphasis and power on the act of gift giving and dates on this day! I feel that love should be shown on every day of the year if it is sincere!
With that being said, so many women will go on a first date, on Valentine’s Day, the day of love, just to be able to have a date. WRONG! Everyone will be giving googly eyes to each other and illustrating some degree of PDA and you will be sitting there like what’s your favorite color and what’s your sign? AWKWARD! And does he give you ballons and chocolate in light of the holiday, when in actuality that is a lot of pressure! You and I both know that on a regular first date he probably would not bring you flowers and shower you with gifts that express love. This is the first date honey!
I just don’t feel it’s fair to either party to have to handle the pressure of a first date on Valentine’s Day! Don’t succumb to the pressures to feel accepted and acknowledged on this day of love. Show love to one of the most important people in your life. Pamper, court, date and even pleasure yourself! I mean who better than yourself to know what you like! HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!
