Who doesn’t love a dancehall vibe? Soca, dancehall and hip hop rhythms often give us the impression that we are connecting with our Caribbean sisters and brothers or in some of our cases channeling our ancestors. Guests mingled about enjoying light bites and cocktails as the artist battles for three of the spots that would allow them to be feature during the main event in September. Steve Harvey Events LLC put on an artist showcase auditioning local Atlanta Soca, dancehall and hip hop artist to display their talents for the upcoming FRO-RIBBEAN Festival to be held September 29th in Atlanta’s Central Park. Participants and attendees reveled in the creativity of over thirty artist hailing from Jamaica, Barbados, Nigeria, St. Lucia, St. Croix, Guyana and many other countries that made me remember that black men and women are everywhere.
The judges for this event included Soca Royalty Imani Ray, who’s singles include Body, How you Lie , and Can’t Hold Me. Dreggae who some of you may remember from the Atlanta Jerk Festival of 2016, his song Lights Low is definitely worth adding to your playlist. Jay Tek the Assistant Program Director for Atlanta’s own 107.9fm and Solo the Program Director for Streets 94.5.
The FRO-RIBBEAN Festival will take place September 29, 2018 and will feature DJ English, DJ Prince Charm, Bunji Garland, Tiwa Savage, Alkaline, and DJ Envy. Judges Imani Ray and Dreggae will also grace the stage. Tickets can be purchased at froribbeanfest.com
