The cast of Empire’s second season will soon be large enough for an “empire” of its own. In latest news on the second season of the hit series we learn Gabourey “Gabby” Sidibe, who portrays Lucious Lyon’s assistant, Becky, is getting a love interest! Yep Becky is giving the “Becky” to a newcomer, Mo McRae (Murder In The First, Battle Creek, Sons of Anarchy). Mo’s character, “J-Poppa” will not only be her love interest, but will have a strong connection to Andre Lyon (Trai Byers). A new character’s addition to any show like Empire always means a shake up to more critical characters. Someone is going to get hurt or sidetracked! Hopefully, it will not be Becky.
We predict J-Poppa will have one of three story lines/roles in the next season:
- He is an aspiring rapper trying to get signed with Empire Entertainment by by befriending and working for Andre.
- He is the son of Vernon, Lucious’ former right hand man, that Rhonda unwittingly killed trying to help Andre.
- He is a rival of Andre’s at Empire who falls for Becky.
Well we won’t know until September 23rd what Becky and J-Poppa have in store for us but we have no doubt it will be worth watching. After all, it’s Empire, and that show is NEVER dull!
