Fashion Jams is one of the hottest ATL Events happening this cool season. The runway is going to be on fire tonight as some of the most talented up and coming designers showcase their latest collections to the highest of industry professionals and fans. This is one show you definitely don’t want to miss. Here’s one designer who is ready to showcase her hard work and “stress” with a dope collection that’ll definitely have you wanting more. Meet Leah R, a 27-year-old Professional Stylist & Vintage Boutique owner for J’adore Monroe Vintage Fashion Company whose 8 years’ experience in the fashion industry and wardrobe stylist background is the basis for what heat she’s about to bring tonite.
“I was very excited about getting accepted for Fashion Jams 2016 after doing my audition, especially since I heard it was a lot of designers in Atlanta that came out to audition for it. Literally, this year has been good to me. I rebranded my name title as a Wardrobe Stylist and then from there I started working on distressed apparel, so I was excited to just at least be accepted for anything, especially Kontrol Magazine as a designer lol.”
Leah goes on to confirm collection expectations for tonight’s event.
“My collection will give you a taste of my creativity from the way I design to the way that I style.”
“You can expect to see a lot of sexy, funky and rebellious designs, on top of different ways to wear and style denim.”
Leah started designing at just the tender age of seven thrifting and remaking clothing with her mother Sharon Ransby. From there she learned how to cut, sew, design and style. Experimenting with styles, fabrics, and colors and combining her styling skills with creative show designs.
“I’ve always sewed when I was younger. My mom taught me when I was around 7-years-old after thrift shopping and picking up different fabrics and palettes. So I’ve been doing it for 20 years now, creative design.”
With a collection defined to be quite “stressful” to say the least, Leah goes on to explain why “stress” is actually the inspiration behind her dope designs.
“For my collection “Stress Me Down” my inspiration was just that, stress lol.”
“This year I started to put all of my time and stress into my work. I started distressing clothing and adding phrases on to the jackets, it was just soothing to me.”
Not so “stressful” after all right? Leah is more than ready to showcase her designs at this year’s Fashion Jams. With a style that’s a cross between 80’s edginess and 50’s vintage, her design palette will definitely intrigue the audience at tonight’s event. So what’s next for this up and coming designer on the rise do you ask?
“For 2017 please expect to see more! I literally rebranded my name earlier this year in February and my career has really taken off from there. I want to have a storefront but not only that I want to have an office and studio set where I can have consultations as well as photo shoots for my collection and future clients. So for 2017 be on the lookout for bigger and better things in the work.”
