Looking for ideas for a weekend getaway? Maybe you’d like something scenic and chill where the good times can still roll. If frequenting the beach is typically your idea of “outdoorsy”, then you may be up for this alternative: glamping.
Glamping is the word used to describe a form of camping that is far more appealing to those who may not necessarily be drawn to the notion of being completely one with nature. Standard amenities generally include running water, a functional restroom, and some source of temperature control.

However, that is just the base level of what the glamping industry has to offer. Glamourous camping can be as quaint as an intimate honeymoon stay at a beautiful treehouse, or as extravagant as booking two or three luxury tents for a birthday pajama jam on location. And there are several options in between.
When scouting out your perfect “glampsite”, don’t shy away from a little comparison shopping. Scout your location and check some reviews (which is my advice for pretty much everything).
Find out what other facilities you’ll have access to, as well as whether there are any activities available to you. Check out photos of the accommodations. Luxury camping has been subject to so many different interpretations that you’ve got options.

With all that glam, you may be wondering where the actual “camping” comes in. Well, many of the sites for glamping offer designated areas for sitting around a campfire. You can still roast marshmallows and tell your stories. Many sites offer this, as well as other outdoor activities.
You can have all the fun parts of camping without the part where you voluntarily sleep on the ground and have to use leaves to wipe- okay maybe true campers bring toilet paper at the very least. However, that’s neither here, nor there for me. I’m a shameless glamper. You can have all that camp-like fun and still retire on a Sealy Posturepedic at the end of the night.
Happy glamping!
