Goblins and Rhinos and Lightning; Oh My! Check out “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”

Superhero movies reign supreme  in the box office! Captain America, The X-Men, The Transformers, and even Robocop are returning to the Big Screen this year all hoping to take their slice of this very profitable pie. Still, none of them stand up to the number one superhero in the world, Spider-Man! Yes, everyone’s favorite web slinger is back in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2!” This time around we learn more about Peter Parker’s origin and how he truly is meant to be Spider-Man. Even more interesting are the villains, there are three this time around–Electro, Rhino, and The Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan). Spidey definitely has his hands full defending the populace of New York from these baddies. Perhaps the most interesting thing about them, besides the special effects used to create them, is Jamie Foxx as “Electro.” Spider-Man fans know this villain, well but to newcomers they will see Foxx as they have never seen him before–cold, calculating, ruthless, and corrupted by power. Still, there’s more than stellar fighting scenes to this film, there is mystery, suspense, and the thriving romance between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. Thankfully, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, respectively; are reprising their roles. However, the most interesting aspect of this film will be the allusions to more sequels. In the laboratory scene in Oscorp are Dr. Octopus’s future mechanical tentacles as well as the Vulture’s flight harness. What leading men will be taking their role in cinematic history? Well, you will just have to wait for “The Amazing Spider-Man 3!” Catch this summer blockbuster on May 2nd!
