Hosea Feed the Hungry: Strike Out Hunger Bowling Event

Midtown Bowling Alley in Atlanta, Georgia was the hot spot yesterday, January 21st. People from all over the Atlanta area came out to fundraise for a topic that is still relevant in our community, hunger. The host for the event was basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks, Mike Scott, and football player for the Atlanta Falcons, Harry Douglas. The bowling alley was full of fun, laughs, drinks, and a little friendly competition.

“We wanted to reach out to an audience that doesn’t already know about Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless,” said Ms. Keshia Walker, board member of Hosea Feed the Hungry.  “We thought something like bowling would bridge that gap between the organization, it’s forty-five year history, and the fact that hunger is effecting all ages and demographics. We thought this would be a great way to do that. This is our first event and we’re going to make it our annual event. Out goal for this event is five-thousand dollars profit to the charity. One-hundred percent of the proceeds tonight will go to the organization. We thank V-103, Rolling Out, and Elite Auto which were apart of tonights event for making it possible”

Approximately 200 people were in attendance for the event and celebrities like Big Tigger, Keisha Knight Pullam, and Porsha Williams, just to name a few were in attendance.

“We’re out here supporting a great cause, I can’t bowl so I’m just trying to have some fun. Of course I’m a very competitive person so we’ll see,” said Mike Scott before he tried his hand at bowling. Teammate Dennis Schroder was also in attendance with him.

“This is an awesome event I’m so glad that I came out. There’s so much support here and it’s just wonderful when Atlanta can come out on a weeknight, have a good time, bowl, and give back at the same time,” said the lovely Porsha Williams as she strapped on her bowling shoes. When asked if she considered herself a professional bowler with a laugh she said, “you know I’m just getting started with my game, got my shoes laced so, I may slay tonight.”

The plan is to move this event to March, based on their observations of others availability. However this event will become something that is continuous for years to come.
