Can dark skinned sisters really wear loud colors like pink and not look like a circus clown? The answer is HECK YEAH they can and look fierce doing it. Now don’t get it twisted the color choice is up to the individual but also it should be used in moderation to make sure they don’t look foolish while trying to look trendy. That also goes for any skin tone. We talked to Tenesha Davis of E.G.O. in the Dallas/Fort Worth areas. She gives us the dish on how dark skinned sisters can rock any color and do it with an EGO.
“First up, let’s talk about the inability to wear any color you want,’ says Davis. “Ladies listen as far as I’m concerned it’s a “New day.” No more of this I CAN’T … Because YES YOU CAN wear whatever color you want and whenever you want.
Just try the color that matches your personality or even your mood and make it look like you invented the color. Wear light, dark and any color in between of your most feared color, be it pink, yellow, green or blue.
If you want to wear pink, which is this summer’s hot color to wear, then try Candy Yum Yum and Pink Pigeon by M. A. C. If it looks undefined and you are uncertain try M.A.C.’s NightMoth or Magenta lip liner for extra cuteness or to darken the color up a bit. NYX also has a pink in matte that Davis absolutely adores.
You can also mix the pinks in layers. For instance, line your lip with your favorite lip liner or one of the ones suggested above, then apply your favorite pink lipstick but not in the middle of your lip. For the middle of your lip, apply the other pink color and there you have it … layered pink perfection that is bound to turn heads!
This goes true for any color. The key is to use it in moderation and make sure you rock it once you pick your color! If people see that you are unsure of your choices they will pay more attention to that then the style you are bringing.
