Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence are two of Hollywood’s biggest stars and thanks to their new movie, Passengers, we get to see them together–and in space!
The film centers on a spaceship, The Avalon, traveling from Earth to a new planet to colonize, known as Homestead II. The journey takes 120 years, with the crew and its passengers placed in suspended animation pods. The star ship seems to transverse the cosmos efficiently and speedily (at 50% the speed of light), until it crosses an asteroid belt, there one of the larger pieces of space debris damages the ship the pod of Jim Preston (Chris Pratt) to open ninety years too soon!

Jim soon realizes he is alone on the ship, with only a robotic bartender, Arthur (Michael Sheen) to keep him company. After a year he longs more and more for human companionship, eventually opting to awaken Aurora Lane (Jennifer Lawrence). He lies to her, having her believe her pod also malfunctioned. The two grow closer and closer by the day until she learns how and why she truly woke up! Her anger and betrayal have to take a backseat to the Avalon’s impending destruction as the now ex-couple must put their personal issues to the side to save themselves and the 5,000 other people aboard the ship.
This movie was actually pretty good. Jennifer and Chris definitely have chemistry–and amazing bodies! Beyond that putting a romance and suspense against the backdrop of interstellar space. The film is also visually stunning, and amazingly weaves together a possible future of space travel where humankind explores new worlds and possibilities. We were disappointed there was not more action in the film, but that does not mean it is not worth seeing! Be sure you catch Passengers at a theater near you nationwide! Happy viewing!
