It appears Lil Mama Shaded Nicki Minaj Again

For years, fans of hip-hop have been drawing the comparison between hip-hop royalty Lil Kim and current rap queen Nicki Minaj. Late Monday, it seemed that rapper Lil Mama was the latest to chime in on the comparison.

The “Lip Gloss” rapper took to her Instagram to post a photo of Lil Kim in one of her signature pink wigs with the caption: “Like like @lilkimthequeenbee ain’t make bitches wanna rock pink hair at some point like… @misahylton what’s that shit you say #respectthearchitect BITCH!,” Lil Mama said.

Last week, Nicki began campaigning for her next album, releasing her “Pinkprint Freestyle.” In the freestyle, Nicki raps: “Like I ain’t make these bitches rock pink hair at some point!”

Lil Mama was certainly throwing shade towards Nicki. But this isn’t the first time Lil Mama has taken aim at the “Anaconda” rapper. In 2015, Lil Mama dropped a song titled “Too Fly” that the internet also accused  her of dissing Nicki. “If I was born in Trini and moved to the states, with the rage I make I would have deported,” she rapped. “I should punch you in your face for making me grandma/ With all these sons and uncle grandpas/ And the stunts you be pulling like you bloody, blood mad / ‘Til I smack you in the face while I’m writing these anthems.”

And in 2011, during her infamous emotional Breakfast Club interview, Mama said she will continue to be herself rather than portraying the secular image that she believes Nicki represents. “I don’t look at TV and listen to radio and say, ‘Oh, I’m gonna be a hoe now. Oh, I’m gonna do this now. I’m gonna talk like this. I’m gonna get a tattoo that says I’m a doll. I’m gonna get a chain that says I’m a doll.’ I’m Lil Mama, till the day I die, period,” she explained.

Lil Mama continued to be outspoken about how she felt about Minaj in her freestyle over Drakes “4PM in Calabasas.”

“And you ain’t got no sons / I be hearing you talkin’ crazy, but you really is buns / So when you talk, talk politely / And when you tread, tread lightly cause the ice getting thinner / like 666, it’s gonna be a cold winter.”

A clear jab at Nicki, as she is known to rap about having a bunch of sons in a number of her verses.

Although Lil Mama is constantly under scrutiny on social media, she is surprisingly a talented artist and actress. During a recent Breakfast Club interview, she unleashed a dope freestyle, which was praised by Breakfast Club host DJ Envy, Charlamagne tha God and Angela Yee. Unfortunately, the live freestyle wasn’t enough to kick her career in to high gear. Maybe if she’d halt her focus on Nicki and tell her story, her rap career would pick up some steam.
