If you caught the start of the World Cup on last Thursday evening, you saw Jennifer Lopez shake and serve in this emerald green body suit for the opening ceremony. The suit left little to the imagination with its shimmering sequins and deep cutouts. She opted for wild, sex(y) hair for the performance and her signature smoky eye and bronzed caramel complexion.
I would not deny that J Lo looked hot, but I definitely felt a certain déjà vu when I saw this look. If you felt the same, you may be remembering this look from the hot mama of two.
Lopez wore this number for her Bronx performance earlier this month, reminiscent of the below, infamous Grammy dress.
She also channeled her HUGE 2000 Grammy dress moment in her lead video, “I Luh Ya Papi,” from her latest album.
She also wore this hunter green gown for an awards show a few years ago with similar hair and makeup.
So why does Lopez continue to revisit the wavy locks, smoky eye, nude lip, green and deep dives of her Versace dress? I feel that it is because that is the night she became a SUPERstar. Her romance with Sean (then “Puffy”) Combs ignited her on the tabloid circuit, plus she released her first album “On the 6” around the same time. All the buzz she generated with these moves led to her jaw-dropping appearance at the millennial awards show and secured her place in sex symbol history. Also, the look really works for her. Her glam squad has nailed everything from the lashes to the bronzer to the bejeweled stockings. For me this look reminds me of what I initially liked about the Puerto Rican beauty and I believe that is what she seeks to remind her fans of with this album.
