Last night the true talent and beauty that is K.Michelle debuted her new drink for Jack Daniels.
Cleverly titled Southern Peach, the drink marks the first time its’ history to feature an African American as the face for their upcoming flavor. Never the one to be low-key, the R&B songstress decided to hold her event at the illustrious Opera Nightclub in downtown Atlanta. This being my first event for Kontrol Magazine, I couldn’t contain my excitement as I and Kontrol’s new brand coordinator Chanel Scales made our way to the venue. The place was packed wall to wall with K.Michelle fans vying for a chance to get a peek at the petite star as well as to taste the drink of the hour.
As we entered the club we were met with images of K.Michelle that adorned drink menus, cardboard cutouts, as well as a video of her taken on the set of her shoot for the drink ad. Set up at different stations around the club were samples of her drink being distributed by attractive waitresses. Making a B-line for one of the tables, I quickly grabbed two samples and downed mine in one gulp. The drink was simply delightful. Not too strong with just enough peach flavor. Soon as I tasted it, I have to admit I immediately wanted more, however, asking for seconds and thirds at a sample table isn’t really the best etiquette.
Drink tickets in tow, we headed for the bar to get our Southern Peach cocktails, however it was easier said than done. The amount of people at the bar was so overwhelming it took almost forty-five minutes before we were acknowledged by a bartender. My annoyance was eased as the hostess of the night, introduced by Big Tigga, graced the stage to thank everyone for showing up and to give a little background about the flavor. After speaking she made her way to the back where she posed for pictures with fans.
Once I ordered my two Jack and cokes, we walked towards the back where they had virtual reality goggles and photo booths. It would have been cool to get a picture with K.Michelle, but the crowd was too thick to even get close. All in all we had a fun night which was capped off when we exited the club and headed for the Gyro on wheels food truck (Instanbul_gyro IG)
