There may be a new wave in fashion and the way that we shop! It’s pretty cool. The process involves virtual scanning, and it isn’t new at all, being used in movies most prominently. However, it hasn’t been used in fashion until now, and model Karlie Kloss was the first to try it out!
Karlie rocked amazing couture and high fashion pieces from some amazing designers and her mini-me traveled all around the world looking fabulous in every frame! The way that the scanning worked was that there’s a dome with up to 100 cameras circling around Karlie, and she would have to strike poses and make things up as she went. The tricky part about this is that Karlie was completely on her own, meaning that this wasn’t her typical photoshoot experience where she’s interacting with the photographer and different people on set. She made up different poses as the dome of cameras around her kept rotating and going off. Also, her stylist (Karen Kaiser), every detail had to be perfect because there couldn’t be anything pinned or clamped because you were getting an all-around 3-D image. There was no room for error! There was no Photoshop, so the clothing and makeup and hair had to be perfected. It’s cool because it forces everyone to be more precise in doing their jobs, presenting a new challenge.
The 6-inch Karlie doll was sent out all over the world from New York to Texas to San Francisco to England to Greece (even the moon!) and so many more places. Little Karlie traveled to over 22 cities and totaled 109,885.03 traveled air miles. These photos made us want to scan ourselves and take fabulous travels all over the world!
