Almost anything that Andre Benjamin touches musically somehow blossoms into effortless classics. The Outkast member has a tendency to vanish into oblivion but resurfaces with a project that diminishes any and all doubt that he’s “fallen off” or lost his mojo somewhere. His last Houdini stint, however, was for a cause that he’s been pursuing for years now – playing Jimi Hendrix.This biopic titled ‘All Is By My Side’ has film buffs abuzz with anticipation of it’s official release at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival. Here’s the twist, 3000 had his work cut out for him since the inception of this film due to Hedrix’s estate flatlining the permission to use any of the deceased rock star’s original songs. Any Hendrix fan is disappointed by this simply because the film covers the years in which Hendrix released some of his most notable pieces. So, how’s that going to work, right? We’ll see! Can Dre can pull this off. Any nonbelievers?
