Fashionistas from every realm gathered around the star decorated runway at the Macy’s Department store in Lenox mall on Thursday for the debut of “New Year, New You with Kim Coles.” You may recognize the dynamic Kim Coles from the 90s hit tv show, In Living Color or perhaps you’ve been amused by her comedic spirit. But this year, Coles is embarking on a joyous venture penning her new book, The Gratitude Journal. The show commenced as Coles warmed up the audience with a greeting. Next, she introduced her co-host Fashion Blogger, Nikka Shae. The two “sashayed” to their seats and narrated the fabulous fashion show.
The first scene featured shades of white and how it indeed can be worn this season. Nikka Shae said, “White can be fabulous with the right pop of color.” Each look featured flattering pieces that had the audience eager to make their purchases.
Tip to rocking white in the wintertime: Add a statement piece such as a sleek blazer, a bright colored clutch, or bold jewelry.
The next scene featured models in intimate apparel by Urban Intimates. Urban Intimates is an affordable, sexy, and classy line for curvier women. Founder and Designer Psyche said, “Enjoy your God given curves.” With such a gorgeous line, Urban Intimates makes us adore our curves!
Lucky members of the audience claimed tickets to the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Guests also received nutritional hor’derves throughout the show courtesy of Good Measure Meals.
The show’s finale featured simple dresses with tips on how to accessorize them. These looks included fabulous items from Steve Madden, Bar III, Vince Camuto, and Coach. Talk about a fashion overload!
Tips on how to rock a simple dress: A nice pair of pumps can take your simple dress to the next level. Don’t be afraid to accessorize. Create a cute color scheme for your look!
Overall, the show gave great insight about how great looks can be achieved for less. The most impressive part was the fact that each look came from Macys! I know where I’m headed this weekend.
