Kobe?? Passing the ball too much?? Over the many years that I have been faithfully watching the game of basketball, especially Kobe Bryant, I would’ve bet my life on never seeing the day these words be uttered. Let Kobe Bryant tell it, we all were wrong about his game and should keep our mouths shut! But no he didn’t say that.
Kobe Bryant came off a great game (if unselfishness meant wins for his struggling Lakers team) against the Cleveland Cavaliers in a losing effort dishing out 17 assist and only taking 14 shots? It doesn’t sound like the Kobe we know who was deemed to be a “ball-hog” by many sports fans and former teammates over his entire NBA career. But did his good intentions in being a team player cost him his season?
Kobe suffered a torn rotator cuff in Wednesdays game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Kobe blamed his injury (jokingly) on a skill many people thought to be none-existent in him. Kobe tweeted:
“This is what happens when I pass too much! #ShoulderShock thank u all for ur thoughts and prayers #team @DrinkBODYARMOR @Lakers #oneluv“
Come on Kobe, that high assist game was like a week ago. At least the Black Mamba is in good spirits about it considering he will have to have surgery on his injured shoulder and will miss the remainder of the season…not that it matters considering the Lakers are having a pretty embarrassing season anyway.
Bryant’s former head coach and friend Phil Jackson even chimed in on Kobe’s tweet. Phil Tweeted Kobe:
“@kobebryant at least you haven’t lost your sense of humor-pass the Mustard.”
Prayers go out to Black Mamba and double for the Lakers season and fans who can’t get it any worse than it is right now. Sheesh!
