Our goal is to find the most talented artists that will gain and maximize the most covering Kontrol Magazine.
We ask ourselves, is this artist prepared to take their career to the next level? And here are some of the tools we use to determine that:
MUSIC
Does your music sound good? Your songs need to be well recorded and engineered. This is too often overlooked, but very important.
Is your music unique? We listen to A LOT of music. Your music might sound good, and we may like it, but if it sounds like a lot of other music we listen to, it is difficult to pick you from a crowd. We hear a lot of music that sounds like the current music on the radio, and while we may like the music, what makes you unique? We are looking for artists that stand out in a crowd.
VISUALS
Do you have a consistent look/feel? You are a brand! If we see that you’ve put in the time, energy and resources necessary to develop a dope brand, it means you’re taking your career seriously.
Do you have professional photos? This might seem minor, but it’s a big deal. Music is about making connections. Fans aren’t gonna connect with you, follow you, share your music, buy your merch… if they don’t connect with your overall vibe. That can start with great photos, with a style that is right for you.
Do you have dope videos? This is one of the most important tools artists have to reach people and build a fanbase. If you don’t have any videos (or your videos are poor quality) it shows that you haven’t taken the proper steps to develop yourself. You need to have solid video content that make it easy for fans to like and share. A creative (and unique) video can help break an artist.
OFFICIAL RULES
By entering this “Kontrol Magazine Fashion & Music Cover 2019 New Artist Competition” (the “Competition”), individuals submitting entries (each an “Entrant” and collectively, the “Entrants”) accept and unconditionally agree to be bound by these Official Rules (the “Rules”). Public voting will choose the winning entries and a Grand Prize will be awarded in accordance with these Rules. Any violation of the Rules may, at Sponsor’s discretion, result in disqualification. All decisions of Sponsor regarding this Competition are final and binding in all respects.

- Sponsor. The Competition is sponsored by Kontrol Magazine Fashion & Music Cover (“Sponsor”).
- Eligibility. All Entrants must be unsigned musical artist who are eighteen (18) years or older and Age of Majority on the date that the earliest of the Submitted Photographs (defined below) were taken. Void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by applicable law. Employees, representatives, and agents of Kontrol Magazine LLC., and its and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, and their advertising and production companies and any family member or person domiciled with any of the foregoing (collectively, the “Competition Entities”), are ineligible to participate.
- How to enter.
- Complete and submit your official entry form. You must provide all information requested.
- Upload three (3) recent and different photographs of yourself that conform to the specifications required below (the “Submitted Photographs”) using the upload tool and instructions provided on the registration page.
- Submit 1-2 original songs via youtube link.
- Post a 1-minute video of yourself singing/or performing an original song on Instagram using the hashtags, #2019KontrolCoverWinner and #Kontromagcontest.
