Dear Atlanta, I want to express how disappointed I am in your choice of fashions when it comes to a black tie event. I had the opportunity to attend the Deion Sanders Red & Black Gala and my eyes were saddened. First off, the dress code required attendees to dress in RED AND BLACK and secondly this was a BLACK TIE EVENT. I’m tired of our “celebrities” and “socialites” not looking appropriate for when the occasion calls for it.
Black tie is a dress code for evening events and social functions. Worn only for events after 6 p.m., black tie is less formal than white tie but more formal than informal or business dress. It is also more formal than recent intermediate codes of “creative,” “alternate” or “optional” black tie.
With this in mind, why do you continue to dress as if you’re going to the club? There is a time and place for everything. There were “celebrities” at that event that should have known beyond better. There is a bright spotlight on Atlanta especially in “Black Hollywood” and the world is laughing at you. I want people to look at this city with the highest esteem but why should they when you don’t walk out the house in your best. I don’t care who you are, if you don’t follow the dress code rules, you can’t get it in…simple as that.
THIS IS TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE! Yes, there were guests that dressed in this manor! WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS!
This is how one should dress when attending a black tie event. Atlanta, please do better!
