#KontrolReads Institutionalized by L. R. Jackson

Rasheed is a convicted felon. He’s perceived as dangerous, uneducated, and a threat to anyone he encounters.
Aubree is the savvy and beautiful daughter of a C.E.O.
Her job was to help him transition into a productive member of society, not to befriend him. However, when she gets to know the real him, she sees things that no one else sees in him. And when he gets to know the real her, he sees a woman that’s really unhappy under her wide smile, and a seemingly perfect life. When an unexpected connection forms between them, they both have a difficult decision to make.
What if you met your soul mate, but they had nothing to offer you but pure and unconditional love? Is that all it would take for you to be happy? They say “Love Conquers All.” But sometimes, love alone, isn’t enough.
Excerpt
“Do you honestly think I’m going to sit back and allow some criminal to take advantage of my daughter?”
“Dad, he’s not a criminal…anymore. And you were a criminal once, you seem to forget that.”
“It’s something I NEVER forget.”
“Then you should know how it is for him. How can you judge him when you have the same past as he does?”
“Because he’s not the kind of man I want for my daughter.” Now you listen to me, since you can’t seem to do your job…you’re fired!”
“What?”
“Your only job right now is to make things right with your fiancé. You’re about to become a wife and I suggest you learn what that means. This union is necessary and you will not ruin this family.”
“And if I don’t go through with the wedding?”
“Then your mother and I will disinherit you.”

Life got in the way and her dream of writing was put on hold while she graduates from college and became a mom. Over 25 years later, she can proudly say that she’s fulfilled her dream of becoming a published author. When she’s not playing chauffeur to her teenage daughter, she can be found reading, cooking, traveling, and of course writing!
