Kontrol had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of Make Me Over Hairbar (MMOHB) located in Tucker, GA. MMOHB is owned by celebrity stylist LaShaundra Stansel. LaShaundra has worked in the hair care industry for over a decade and has worked with magazines DENIM, JET, VIBE. She has also worked with celebrities such as RHOA Cynthia Bailey, Actress Lisa Raye McCoy, the OMG girlz, Dominique from ANTM, R&B Divas Atlanta Faith Evans and rap artist Lola Monroe.
MMOHB is the second salon location, with Make Me Over Hair Lounge as her first venue. What makes MMOHB different from the rest of the salons in Atlanta is that you have an experience. They serve drinks, offer Wi-Fi and cable TV. The feel of the salon is very modern, classic. I loved the design of the stations as well. MMOHB has stylist that are well versed in cut, color, natural hair, sew-ins, relaxers, amino acids and more. The evening was sponsored by Courvoisier, soundtrack provided by DJ Bombshell Boogie and guests dined on jerk chicken skewers, beef skewers, mini fish tacos and salmon quiche catered by FLC and Events and sweets by My Fair Sweets. I enjoyed myself and also getting to know LaShaundra.
To all of the short hair women, she left me with this great tip…don’t tie down your hair. That was great advice to the hair challenged like myself. Also, another piece of advice from LaShaundra…don’t get into business especially the hair business if it’s not your passion. If you’re going into for the money, you’ll get tired real quick; the hair business is about customer service, getting to know your clients on a personal level.
