Ladies Love Cavalli; Roberto Cavalli’s Fall 2015 Collection

Ladies Love Cavalli… Roberto Cavalli that is. I must say Roberto Cavalli’s collections never seize to amaze me! Last year The Roberto Cavalli Fall/Winter 2014 collection gave us tweed, mink, and Python coats to beaded evening gowns that had you wanting to have a 1900’s themed party so you could be a flapper girl. The new 2015/16 Fall/Winter Roberto Cavalli collection deemed Cavalli’s new China Girl was inspired by the ambiance of the country China. Let the scent of China captivate you and be enthralled as I take you on a journey of exploration through his designs!

Normally I save the best for last but I have to begin with these Shanghai night dresses! Whether you prefer long or short these dresses are eye popping and head stopping! Hand lacquered with Chinese-screen printed silk, beautiful Ocelet printed pony skin, with serpentined liquid paillettes and tulle intarsia, wrapped silk with velvet embroidery blended with opium garden motifs and fine traces of tiger stripes. I can only imagine that wearing these dresses feel as luxurious as they sound!

Roberto’s interpretation included iconic Chinese elements that became luxurious details and leitmotifs for a style that is both cosmpolitan and modern. Decorations become jewels: buckles on the wide belts and on the new Heroine bag that can be worn as a maxi clutch or as a shoulder bag. The last reference to traditional Chinese motifs is in the linings of the long coats, painted and embroidered like cloisonne’ enamel.

Dreamy evening dresses flow like the waters of Yangtze River with soleil panelleled degradé chiffon plissé.

Creamy shades were also present, for numerous glamorous dresses with fringed hems, luxurious coats, and top and bottom duos.

Inspired by the romantic Chinese heroine Maggie Cheung. This graphic element is newly interpreted as a white stitched leather embellishment on column coats in wool crepe, in white string embroidery on black micropaillette evening dresses, melded with classic floral patterns, in white pailletes on fur,  or in silk fringed by hand and added to fabric to create an entirely new type of “fur.”

It goes without saying that this collection is a must have of the season!
