Put your hands up – make ’em touch,” Lady Gaga sings on her new single, “Applause.” The song, the first from her upcoming ARTPOP album, dropped a full week early after demos of the catchy tune leaked Monday morning.

The dance track features a synth-driven, throwback vibe reminiscent of her debut album, The Fame, and is expected to launch the star’s comeback following hip surgery in February. So far, “Applause” has been met with enthusiasm, passing fellow pop queen Katy Perry’s new single “Roar” on Last.fm before crashing the site.
Gaga is set to perform the single at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 25. Does “Applause” have you clapping along? Is this the start of a Mother Monster comeback?
