German leather goods brand MCM Worldwide and popular London-based designer Christopher Raeburn have recently collaborated to create the MCM x CR Spring/Summer Collection. The collection was put together to help celebrate MCM’s 40th Anniversary.
It consists of Quilted Bomber Jackets, Splinter shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, parkas, capes, trench coats, and backpacks. In all, there are 25 pieces. Most of the clothing feature a new camouflage design in bold blues, yellows, and grays. And everything is made from sustainable materials like recycled polyester and recycled bottles.
The inspiration behind the line is the “modern global nomad”. MCM x CR has put a lot of thought into using technical fabrics and sustainable materials. The clothes also repel dirt, water, and even scratches using materials from Switz textile company Schoeller. The color palette pays homage to Munich, by using colors from the Bavarian flag.
Clearly, this collection is all Christopher Raeburn if you take into account all of the elements involved. The clothing bears his signature of protecting the planet while still creating clothing that protects man. He’s always had a philosophy that consisted of reducing, reuse, and recycle. The unique prints and use of coma flange are also signatures as well if you follow Christopher’s work.
Recently, luxury department store Neiman Marcus produced an event in Atlanta to showcase the MCM x CR collection. 36-year old R&B singer Ray J rode the carpet on a limited edition MCM x Scoot-E Bike while wearing the MCM x CR Collection Quilted Bomber Jacket and the brands Visetos Zip High Top Sneakers. In a sense, he conformed to the collection’s message by using a form of transportation that was better for the environment.
