Being Mary Jane is a series on BET starring actress, Gabrielle Union (Mary Jane) as she focuses on her career but also struggles with issues in her family and her love life. The show centers on themes such as infidelity, love, family values, and relationships.

At one point in the interview, I asked Latarsha about being on “team natural.” I was quickly given the response by Mrs. Rose saying, “I am on team feeling good and expressing yourself!” She told me that beauty is how you feel. You shouldn’t have to be on team anything. As long as you feel beautiful on the inside then that’s all that matters. Ms. Rose credited her family, for building up her self-esteem as a child and embracing her beauty. What an inspiration! I was inspired by her comments on beauty not only for myself but, also for all women! Be happy with who you are and don’t try to meet the expectations of this “team” or that.
