There’s Givenchy, Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Moschino, Chanel, Versace, and so much more that come to present at fashion weeks all over the world during the September month, or as the fashion enthusiasts and lovers know it–fashion month! We stand by watching out for trend reports for the next season and glimpses of fashion shows for our favorite designers, looking forward to seeing something that amazes us. We look out for street style trends that inspire us, sometimes even more than the clothing from the shows! Oh, fashion month! We only wish that we could experience all of the fashion and the amazing vibes in London, New York, Paris, and Milan during fashion month. But until then, we’ll keep a lookout for all of the trends and reports that come from the runways and bring the news to you!
Of course we know all of the big names in fashion that show during this fashion month, but allow us to introduce you to some dope designers and brands that are making their first-time debuts this year in New York! We’re so excited to see what they bring to the runway!
Amir Taghi gets inspired by Persian culture and Southern charm. He launched his first collection at 15 and has been showing more collections and working in his home state of Texas ever since!
Sandy Liang is a New York-based designer who will be debuting her second collection at fashion week. Her first collection didn’t show but is making quite a splash as it featured mixed pastels, fur, leather and exaggerated proportions in a way that made us want just about every piece. Her pieces are a fashion editor’s dream! We have no doubt that her name will soon be one that everyone knows.
Isa Arfen designer Serafina Sama is definitely someone to watch out for! Although she’s based in London, she’s show at Paris Fashion Week for the past few seasons. She will be showing her latest collection for the first time in NY at Milk Studios after having landed retail doors like Open Ceremony and Net-a-Porter. Her clothing definitely stands out in the London market that is dominated by bold patterns and digital prints.
Edie Parker has had a presence at NYFW for years now, but only in the hands of street style stars. The designer of these amazing cluthes is Brett Heyman. Her whimsical clutches have been seen EVERYWHERE, and they’ve recently gotten her a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nomination and a spot at NYFW!
Zoe Jordan was chosen earlier in the year by the British Fashion Council to partake in a mentorship program for emerging designers. The Council probably pushed her in the New York direction, where her utilitarian yet playful pieces will surely make quite an impression.
Maison Kitsuné is a brand that has shown in Paris for the past few seasons and is now setting its eye on conquering New York, where the brand also has a store in the trendy Nomad Hotel. Maison Kitsuné is an offshoot of a French/Japanese record label, and is comprised of a very specific assortment of casual, retro-inspired clothing and accessories favored by the cool kids in cool cities. This season’s theme seems to be “effortless French,” and we love it!
A Vancouver, Canada-bred, Belgium-based designer by the name of Devon Halfknight Leflufy is a recent grad of the Royal Academy, as well as a finalist for this year’s H&M Design Award. His clothing is already on the racks of Open Ceremony, where his bold and unconventional menswear is right at home.
We’re so excited to about what these NY Fashion Week newbies will be bringing to the table! Are you guys excited to see all of the fashion, trends, and street style that will be taking over social media during Fashion Month?! Leave us a comment and let us know!
