New York Fashion Week is approaching! Designers are rushing to finish their collections, while people are preparing to flock to the city to take part in the shows. It’s the most anticipated week in the world of fashion and it all happens in New York City in September. However, in fashion women dominate and are celebrated more than men. Even amongst models men generally get the short of the stick. If a top female model is making millions, then the top male is making a couple hundred thousand. Not bad but it’s one of the few industries where the role of gender inequality is reversed.
It’s time to give some shine to the men, the fresh faces in particular. These guys have been dominating the runways, editorials, and print ads. Most of them have only been modeling since last year, and yet they’ve managed to be featured by top brands and publications. With NYFW just around the corner, you don’t want to be the only person wondering who’s that 6’2 young Adonis walking down the runway.
Here are 10 of the top new male models who everyone should know:
This 23-year-old male model has been doing runway work and ad campaigns since 2015. He’s walked for David Hart, Zachary Prell, Perry Ellis, Calvin Klein, John Elliott + Co, Timo Weiland, and Todd Snyder. Also, Hamid has been featured in ads for H&M, GAP, and
Hailing from London, Montell embarked on his first fashion show season last winter. The 21-year-old walked in a total of 12 shows in London and Paris for major brands including Coach, Louis Vuitton, Margiela, and Raf Simons. This year he was featured in a Raf Simons ad campaign for his Spring/Summer collection and walked in the Versus Versace Fall/Winter fashion show. Prior to being a model, he was a club promoter.
During his first year of modeling, Abdulaye was featured in Pharrell x adidas Originals Hu Holiday 2016 collection lookbook back in 2016. He’s since walked for Louis Vuitton, Pyre Moss, Fendi, and Lanvin. Originally for Senegal, Abdulaye featured in an ad campaign for John Elliot Fall/Winter 2017 collection.
Though he started modeling at the end of last year, Don has been on fire in 2017. Not only is he impressive in ads and on the runway, he’s been credited for his street style. Don has been photographed on the street by many photographers all over New York, Paris, and Milan. A couple of months ago he was featured in the “Now or Never” music video for American singer Hansley. This alone Don has walked in over 20 shows including DSquared2, Dolce & Gabbana, and Philipp Plein.
Bom Chan Lee
Born in Korea and based in New York, Bom Chan Lee has been modeling since 2015. He’s already been given praises by Vogue as one of five male models who should know. Among a lot of various editorial features, he has been killing it on the runways. This year Bom walked for Hermes, Kenzo, Raf Simons, Dolce & Gabbana, and Fendi, just to name a few.
Soufiane isn’t just your typical model. He’s also a Moroccan Hip-Hop artist, who recently released a music video for his single “Negro Falso“. His artist name is Souf 909. Judging by Soufiane’s looks, it’s obvious that he has the makings of a breakout star. He’s based out of Germany.
Belgian bomshell, Yannick Bandora, has only been modeling for less than a year. He’s done several runway shows, but has yet to book any print ads or editorials. Which still isn’t bad for the 19-year-old. Especially since he’s only been out of high school for a couple of months. Yannick is signed to Why Not Models, which is based in Milan, Italy.
Anthony’s been modeling since 2013, but his work has increased a lot recently which he was he is still considered a fresh face. Based out of New York City, one of Anthony’s first major jobs was a 2013 runway show for Givenchy. He did another show in 2014 for John Richmond. However, in 2015 he was booked for John Richmond, Moschino, and Giorgio Armani. Anthony was also featured in Candy Magazine during the same year. Last year he walked in five shows and was featured in three editorials. Walking twice for Armani.
Represented by the infamous Wilhelmina Modeling Agency, Emmanuel is a native of Belguim who is currently based in New York City. Although this year, he’s only done an ad campaign for J. Crew, last year in walked in eight different runway shows. He started modeling in 2013 with an editorial in Vogue Netherlands. From there he was walked in the Alexander Wang x H&M presentation the following year, along with a few other jobs and was featured in a Ralph Lauren show the year after that.
Also signed to Wilhemina is Cordell Broadus. However, you might recognize him more if you knew that his father was the iconic Hip-Hop star, Snoop Dogg. That’s right the little puppy has grown up and now he’s a model. Cordell. He started modeling last year, and has since been featured in ads for adidas and walked for Dolce & Gabbana. Though the 20-year-old is still in college he’s found time to be a model, produce a capsule collection honoring his father, and he’s decided to become a filmmaker.
