Top designs will be reviewed by #PepsiChallenge global design ambassador Nicola Formichetti and the Pepsi Design Board comprised of top designers and creatives from around the world:

How did you get involved with the Pepsi Challenge?
Pepsi approached me to be a global ambassador for the Pepsi Challenge and it was something I could immediately associate myself with. I am excited to be partnering with Pepsi on the new Pepsi Challenge as I relate to the program and encouraging fans around the world to truly live for the moment. It’s something that I strive for in my personal life – not taking a second for granted, daring to be different and making every moment your own.

Which is tougher? Coming up with designs for clothing or coming up with your design for the can?
Both have their challenges, but that’s what excites me as a designer. To be able to create and re-design such an iconic product like the Pepsi can is quite an honor and I look forward to seeing all the submissions.

“NICOLA FORMICHETTI HAS BUILT A CAREER AS ONE OF FASHION’S MOST INVENTIVE AND IMAGINATIVE FORCES.” What is your process when you go into creating designs? Specifically, did you have to tap into anything differently when you were creating the Pepsi design?

I’m inspired on a day-to-day basis by my travels and everything around me. I try to incorporate all of my visions, inspirations and thoughts into each unique design I create. When I sat down to design the Pepsi can for the Pepsi “Live for Now” Design Challenge, I wanted to incorporate the brand’s signature blue, red and white palette, but also give it a fresh twist with my personal style, so I incorporated my signature “Nicopanda” design and some black and white.

Are the arts something you’re passionate about?

Absolutely. So much of the work I create is inspired by my surroundings and personal experiences, but they are built out of my passion and love for art and design.

What are you going to be looking for in the candidates that are creating designs for the contest?

There are so many talented people around the world. You don’t need to be a designer or in the creative industry, just take a chance, step out of your ordinary and show your creativity to the world. I’m excited to see what everyone conceives and shares back.
