During NYFW, notable sneaker company Reebok and womenswear designer Jonathan Simkhai unveiled their collection of sneakers. The Jonathan Simkhai x Reebok collaboration birthed eight unique styles of sneakers that were inspired by the lightness and ingenuity of Simkhai’s latest collection.
The shoes are referred to as custom Freestyle Hi sneakers and were handcrafted by Simkhai himself at Reebok’s headquarters. Each shoe is cloaked in Simkhai’s signature fabrics, including ecru crochet, blue seersucker, indigo denim, ecru denim, white leather, black leather, powder pink leather and midnight blue leather.
The various fabrics were incorporated with linear lines and striking colors. The unique styles and details make them different from anything that the sneaker company has ever produced. The freestyle Hi was originally the first fitness sneaker created and marketed towards women. Now the longstanding sneaker has an updated look in the form of innovative, stylish, and comfortable designs.
Simkhai attests that he’s always admired Reebok’s designs for women’s shoes. According to him, his design philosophy is very similar to the popular Reebok’s. Simkhai created his luxury ready-to-wear womenswear brand back in 2010. He’s always incorporated various fabrics and contoured silhouettes into his designs, which cater to modern women embody confidence and versatility.
In turn, Reebok products are marketed to modern women who lead a certain lifestyle. They’re modern women who are very busy and very active. These women like to walk, run, dance, or practice yoga. They’ll even go hiking or take up a combat training. One this is for sure and that’s the fact that these women have to be ready for anything because they never know what life may throw at them. Or what they intend to throw at life, since they take the most out of life and enjoy doing it.
The Reebok Classic x Jonathan Simkhai Freestyle Hi sneakers will be available soon in limited supply. Price points have yet to be released.
