However sinister his collections may appear, Rick Owens designs some truly remarkable goth couture pieces – namely, his leather jackets. In a seemingly odd partnership, Owens has teamed up with the athletic footwear giant Adidas for a signature collection due for release in the Spring 2014.
When adidas and Rick Owens announced a collaboration earlier this month, the footwear and high fashion world took notice. As promised, the collection has received its initial unveiling this week in Paris. The shoes arrive with a surprisingly balanced approach between the aesthetics of Owens and adidas with an augmented high-top tongue and a stripped down, minimalist design. Hits of muted leather and nylon make up the majority of the shoe that sees a predominantly white, light grey and black construction. An unassuming Three Stripes hit is given to the side profile via perforated linework on the interior and exterior panels. Stay tuned for further glimpses into the comprehensive six silhouette collection that is expected to arrive with a price range of $400 USD – $500 USD.
