To kick off Oprah’s Live the Life you Want weekend, Bounty hosted an “exclusive breakfast power meet-up ” (Bounty ‘O-town’ press packet). The celebrity panel featured host, celebrity chef, and The Chew star Carla Hall, Honesty jewelry line creator and ‘Georgia Peach’ Nicole Jones, and ‘Trailblazer’ Karmetria Burton, general manager of Supplier Diversity for Delta Airlines. Each woman opened up about her fears, challenges and risks faced when she set out to live the life she really wanted.
Carla revealed that she feared being unhappy more than she feared leaving the accounting field to explore her culinary passions. Nicole shared that she decided to spend less time thinking about starting a business and to strike out to open it with her business partner: “if you do not try, you are already failing,” she expressed regarding her resolve. Karmetria divulged that she challenged the status quo and spoke up for herself even if that meant speaking up in a room where she represented the only woman in attendance.
Each woman’s story inspired the attendees individually, but as they conversed together, they uncovered true pearls of wisdom. The crowd audibly agreed when the ladies advised that women assert themselves and stop apologizing for their thoughts, feelings, and ideas. When Carla visited the topic of work/life balance, the ladies suggested to think of schedules in terms of prioritizing and achieving a workflow that you would feel comfortable with. Finally, the panel offered some practical nuggets: do your research and create a vision board–seeing your dreams really works!
The day continued with stations manned by CoverGirl, Olay, Ikea, Kroger and Ford. At every station the crew encouraged attendees to empower themselves and take steps towards creating the life they wanted. Overall, great energy and another fantastic event in Centennial Park Atlanta.
